Decentralised Composting in a Residential Colony

“At GPRA Complex, New Moti Bagh, a novel model of decentralised solid waste management has been established… The facility receives around 1.5 tonnes of household waste from 1,100 households and 1 tonne of garden waste. Plastics are converted into a mixture of liquid fuel, close to light diesel oil.”

The Government of India's official MSW manual documents the Motibagh operation as a replicable model.

Plastic to Liquid Fuel: Initiative in New Moti Bagh

“Under a 'zero waste' project at the GPRA Complex, a facility to convert plastic waste into liquid fuel has been installed… segregated and put through a pyrolytic conversion process at about 400°C in the presence of a catalyst, yielding liquid fuel in the range of light diesel oil.”

Conversion of Plastic Waste into Fuel-oil (RDF)

“Segregated plastic waste is fed into an in-vessel depolymerisation system… gasolysed to small-chain hydrocarbons, condensed and collected — first cut fuel oil, second cut light diesel oil — generally 40% to 50% of input.”
